Support coordinator

A support coordinator is a provider engaged, where a plan includes funding for it, to help a participant connect with providers, understand their budgets, and build the skills to manage their own supports over time.

Support coordination sits at different intensities, from basic coordination of connections through to specialist support coordination for people whose situations are more complex.

A support coordinator is distinct from a local area coordinator, who works on the NDIA’s behalf rather than being engaged and paid for by the participant.
