Continence Aids Payment Scheme (CAPS)
A Commonwealth payment towards continence products, separate from the NDIS.
The Continence Aids Payment Scheme is a Commonwealth program that pays an annual amount towards continence products for eligible people with a permanent and severe continence condition. It runs independently of the NDIS, with its own eligibility rules and its own application through Services Australia.
What it pays
The current CAPS payment rate is $739.40 per year (as of , Department of Health).
The payment can be taken as one amount in July or split across two payments. It is not retrospective: the first payment is worked out from the date Services Australia receives a complete application.
How it fits with the NDIS
CAPS and the NDIS are separate systems. Some people use one, some use the other, and the right fit depends on individual circumstances. The official CAPS page has the current criteria and the application form.
