Occupational therapist (OT)
An occupational therapist is a health professional who assesses functional needs and recommends supports and equipment to help with daily tasks.
An occupational therapist, or OT, is an allied health professional trained to assess how a person manages daily activities and to recommend supports, equipment, or home modifications that assist with those tasks.
Within the scheme, an OT’s assessment often forms the evidence behind a request for higher-cost assistive technology, home modifications, or other capacity building supports.
An OT describes and recommends based on functional need rather than diagnosis, which keeps their reports consistent with how equipment and support recommendations are expected to be framed.
