Participant
A participant is a person who has met the NDIA's access criteria and holds an active NDIS plan.
A participant is a person the NDIA has assessed against its published access criteria and accepted into the scheme. Becoming a participant follows an access request, and only the NDIA decides that outcome.
Once someone is a participant, the agency works with them to build a plan around their own goals, and that plan sets out how their supports are structured and how their funding can be managed.
Participant status is specific to the NDIS. Someone who does not meet the access criteria may still be eligible for other disability or aged care programs with their own separate rules and application processes.
