This finder answers one question: where does an item sit in the NDIS Support Catalogue? Describe what you are looking for, and it returns the matching catalogue items with the support category and support class each one belongs to.
Category and class, in plain terms
Every support in the catalogue has a support class and a support category. Support class is the broad type: Core, Capacity Building, or Capital. Support category is the narrower grouping inside that class, such as Consumables, Daily Activities, or Assistive Technology.
Knowing an item’s category helps you talk to a plan manager, read a plan, or check an invoice. It tells you which part of the catalogue a support is filed under, in the catalogue’s own words.
A catalogue fact, not a plan decision
The category an item sits under is fixed by the catalogue and is the same for everyone. What a specific plan includes is a separate matter, decided for each participant around their goals and the reasonable and necessary test.
So this finder reports where a support lives in the catalogue and stops there. Whether a support belongs in your plan is a conversation for you and your planner, plan manager, or support coordinator.
