Plan management

Plan management is the arrangement that decides who pays provider invoices and keeps records for a participant's NDIS funding.

Plan management is the part of a plan that decides how invoices are paid and how spending is tracked. Every plan states one or more plan management types across its budgets.

The three types are self-managed, where the participant or their nominee pays and claims directly, plan-managed, where a registered plan manager handles payments and bookkeeping, and agency-managed, where the NDIA pays registered providers directly through its own systems.

A single plan can mix these types across different budgets. How your plan is managed changes who you can buy from and how invoices are paid, and your plan documents state which arrangement applies to each part of your funding.
