Nominee

A nominee is a person the NDIA appoints to make decisions or manage funding for a participant who needs support to do so themselves.

A nominee is a person the NDIA formally appoints to act for a participant, either for plan decisions generally or for the narrower task of managing plan funding.

A plan nominee makes broader decisions about a participant’s plan, while a correspondence nominee is limited to receiving information and communicating with the NDIA on the participant’s behalf.

Appointing a nominee does not remove a participant’s own say in their plan. The arrangement is meant to support decision-making, and the NDIA can review or end a nominee arrangement if circumstances change.
