Respite
Respite is an informal term for short term accommodation or other supports that give a participant's usual carers a break.
Respite is the everyday term people use for a short break from usual caring arrangements. It is commonly delivered through short term accommodation arranged in a plan.
Respite is not a distinct budget or support category in its own right. It describes a purpose, and the actual funded support is usually short term accommodation or, in some circumstances, in-home support delivered for a similar reason.
What respite-style support looks like for an individual plan follows the same reasonable and necessary test as any other support, assessed against the person’s goals and their usual support arrangements.
