NDIA

NDIA is short for National Disability Insurance Agency. It is the government agency responsible for running the scheme: assessing access requests, meeting with participants to build plans, and approving plan reassessments.

The agency is separate from the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, which regulates providers and workers rather than plans. Participants generally deal with the agency directly, or through a local area coordinator or an early childhood partner acting on its behalf, depending on where they live and their age.

Decisions the agency publishes, such as its access criteria and planning guidelines, sit on the official NDIS website and describe the process rather than any individual outcome.
