Early childhood approach

The early childhood approach is the NDIA's pathway for supporting young children with developmental delay or disability and their families.

The early childhood approach is the way the NDIA works with young children and their families, focused on family-centred support and connecting with mainstream services alongside any NDIS supports.

Children are often supported through an early childhood partner organisation rather than dealing with the NDIA directly, similar in role to a local area coordinator for older participants.

The approach covers both children who become NDIS participants and children who are better supported through mainstream and community services instead.
