The Continence Aids Payment Scheme, or CAPS, is a program that pays a yearly amount towards continence products for people who meet its criteria. It is run by the Department of Health and is separate from the NDIS. What CAPS is
CAPS makes a single yearly payment to help with the cost of continence products for people with a permanent and severe loss of bladder or bowel control from a qualifying condition. The current payment amount is shown above, drawn from the constants file.
The payment is not tied to receipts for specific products. It is a lump sum you use towards continence products of your choice, which is what makes the scheme simple to work with once you are on it.
CAPS and the NDIS are separate
CAPS is its own program with its own rules and its own application, and NDIS rules do not apply to it. Some people receive support from one, some from the other, and the interaction between them is set by each program.
